Da Brat Avoids More Jail Time For Cheerleader Assault Thanks To 7.7M Debt

Da Brat was reportedly cut some slack in court this week. According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, a judge determined the Hip Hop vet wouldn't have to serve any time in jail for breaking a champagne bottle over ex-NFL cheerleader Shayla Stevens' head.
The So So Def artist argued that because she filed for bankruptcy in August, jail would prevent her from earning the money to settle the case.
Stevens and her legal team were attempting to have Da Brat found in contempt of court for not coughing up the $6.4 million she owes and missing a scheduled court date. Da Brat was under the impression filing for bankruptcy offered protection from current debts and active collection efforts.
Evidently, the judge agreed.
